  • The Cure (1995) – Touching 90s drama set in Stillwater, with multiple scenes shot at private homes on 2nd St S.
  • Grumpier Old Men (1995) – Heartwarming comedy that has a scene shot at Lowell Park on the St. Croix River.
  • Beautiful Girls (1996) – This cult classic features Uma Thurman and Natalie Portman. The film includes sweeping shots of downtown, including the Historic Courthouse, Oasis Café, O’Brien Wine and Spirits, Ziggy’s, Anchor’s End Tattoo, and a couple of houses on 2nd St South.
  • Overnight Delivery (1998) – Romantic comedy starring Reese Witherspoon and Paul Rudd, with scenes filmed near the historic Stillwater Lift Bridge.
  • Paperboys (2001) – Heartfelt documentary that follows the lives of real Stillwater paperboys. Filmed entirely in town.
  • 360 (2011) – Drama thriller film that features scenes of the Minnesota Correctional Facility.
  • The Unearthing (2015) – Thriller film set and filmed entirely in Stillwater. Key filming locations include the Stillwater Public Library, the Warden’s House, the Carriage House, and more.
  • Frogman (2023) – Horror movie filmed primarily downtown.
  • Marmalade (2024) – Romantic heist film, with shots of the Minnesota Correctional Facility and nearby Taylors Falls.

Fun Fact: Clouds, the Disney+ film featuring singer Sabrina Carpenter, is set in Stillwater! Its story is inspired by Zach Sobiech, the Stillwater teen whose legacy lives through his music and the film.
