Getting outside and moving is important for maintaining our mental and physical health. And it’s even better when it’s with people in a community. From half marathons to 5Ks, Stillwater, MN has a variety of races of varying difficulties that take place throughout the year. If you enjoy biking or running, make sure to mark your calendars for these list of opportunities we have coming up in 2026 in Stillwater.
Many of Stillwater’s races include a variety of distances all in one event. You can choose from a half-marathon, a 10 mile, 10K or a 5K. These races allow people to choose the distance that fits their ability and desired challenge. However, you can still be assured to have a beautiful view and lots of fun no matter what distance you choose!
Choose the half marathon distance, 10K or 5K and follow the fully-paved Gateway Trail. This race takes runners through Washington County, Minnesota and through the historic streets of Stillwater. All distances share a common finish at Pioneer Park, high on the bluffs above downtown. Runners and spectators have a breathtaking view of the St. Croix River valley — a perfect opportunity for pictures and relaxing after the race!

The Lift Bridge Road Race has a variety of distances including a half marathon, 10-mile, 10K and 5K race! 2026 will be the second year of including the half marathon at this iconic Stillwater race. All distances finish at the Lift Bridge Brewing Company’s Stillwater tap room. The 10 Mile course begins and ends at the brewery. 10K and 5K runners board a shuttle for a short ride to the start area at Stillwater’s quaint Washington Park. At the finish line, you’ll find music, free beer for runners, recovery food including water, Gatorade, salty snacks, bananas, oranges and Clif protein bars. You may even find breakfast burritos and coffee available for purchase. Spend the morning running and making memories!

The St. Croix Crossing Half Marathon starts in western Wisconsin and ends in downtown Stillwater. Runners will choose between a half marathon, a 10K and a 5K and be shuttled to their starting location. This diverse course includes scenic tree-lined roads, picturesque farms, the beautiful Loop Trail between Minnesota and Wisconsin and crosses the majestic St. Croix Crossing bridge. Runners love this fully paved course finishing at the historic Stillwater Lift Bridge in downtown Stillwater.

Come run/walk through beautiful vineyards with a sprinkle of wine-tasting. In the 1K course, you’ll find 3 different wine tastings and get your own wine glass. In the 5K, you’ll get a celebratory glass of wine at the finish line. Additionally, explore St. Croix Vineyard rustic tasting rooms and an afterparty.

Represent your state in this epic get-together! Runners can choose between a half marathon, a 10K and 5K and will take a shuttle to their starting location. Runners cross the I-94 bridge over the St. Croix river, finishing at Lakefront Park in Hudson, WI. Since 1995, runners have battled for the lead and the honor of bringing home the win for their state. Kids are also welcome to participate in their very own .3 mile race completely contained within Lakefront Park. After the race, runners are shuttled back to their cars from the finish line.

Come along for the 4th annual event in the beautiful St. Croix Valley! Riders choose from five route options: 10, 25, 45, 70 and a 75 mile Gravel Challenge. Each route offers spectacular views of St. Croix Valley! Each route has rider support and rest stops available. After your ride, meet up with friends and family in North Lowell Park in downtown Stillwater. Enjoy live music and refreshments along the St. Croix River.

The Stillwater Boom Site Log Run is the final event of the year in the Run Stillwater series. This race goes back to 1997 and includes a half marathon, 10 mile, 10K and a 5K. Runners are shuttled to their starting location. The course is mostly downhill and is known as one of the fastest 10 mile and 5K courses in the Midwest!

There are a few more races in Stillwater, don’t worry! These races don’t have multiple distance options but still have breathtaking views, are perfect for community bonding and a physical challenge. From running races through Stillwater’s snow sculptures to a Turkey Trot with an extra layer of giving, there is plenty of excitement and fun to be had.
Come participate in a fast, gentle-downhill 8K on the scenic Brown’s Creek Bike Trail. This race is organized by Wild River Running, Stillwater’s locally and independently owned running specialty shop. Dedicated to empowering the robust endurance community of the St. Croix River Valley, part of the money raised through this race will go to fund the Stillwater Cross Country programs to travel to the Nike Cross Regional meet in Sioux Falls, SD.

The Stillwater Fox Trot is a community event designed to bring local residents together in the spirit of wellness and giving back. Along with a 5K course that winds through historic neighborhoods and along beautiful Lake McKusick, donate any old running shoes and athletic apparel! Support Valley Outreach through their partnership with Sneakers4Good and receive $2 for every pair of used running shoes donated. Athletic clothing will be donated directly to the organization.
